Zouhair Yahyaoui – never forgotten

It is seven years today since Zouhair Yahyaoui (Ettounsi) died. Zouhair was perhaps the first true cyber-dissident and led the way with his satirical blog TUNeZINE to what later became the Arab Spring. Today in Tunisia bloggers are marking his anniversary in a country very different from the one he left behind. It is largely down to him that Tunisia is today a free land. I wish he knew that.

He was an inspiration to bloggers everywhere and I hope he remains so for ever. A hero who walked amongst us.

RIP brother.
